The entire experience of being abroad when the entire world shut down, when the embassy was unsure what to tell me, when flights all of a sudden started to get cancelled from everywhere to anywhere, when each of us in the hostel trying to figure out what to do was sharing what their government was saying and none of the 12 of us had heard the same information, was a learning experience in itself! Finally after one last conversation with the embassy, a super friendly Air Canada employee managed to change one of cancelled my flights and get me a rescue flight our of Australia.
I have been back in BC for just over 2 weeks. I am settling into a new home, a new town, and preparing to start a new job in a new school. There are so many uncertainties about what this school year will look like, so I am not trying to guess. I will wait until I get to school on September 8th and see what they tell me then.
